Lee Johnson

Lee Randolph "Randy" Johnson, age 72, of Manassas, Virginia died Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at Prince William Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Prince William County and had retired as a civil servant from Quantico in 1972 and then he worked for the Prince William County School Board as a small engines shop foreman until a second retirement in 1993. Mr. Johnson was a skilled mechanic and race car enthusiast and had toured the drag race circuit in the 1950's winning many trophies. In his later years, he enjoyed following NASCAR and was an avid collector of memorabilia. His other hobbies included watching his beloved Washington Redskins and Atlanta Braves and enjoyed time spent maintaining his lawn and gardens. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles S. and Vallie Mae Johnson and is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruth Darlene Johnson , six children, Faye Robertson White of Bealeton, Wanda Wilson of Zionville, NC, Debbie Hollingsworth of Manassas, Douglas Johnson of Montclair, Pomona Teets Billig of Manassas, Susan Smith of Manassas, nine grandchildren which include four that are serving a tour in the U.S. military and of which two are home on leave from Iraq, five great-grandchildren of Woodbridge and San Diego, CA, two brothers, Charles Edward Johnson and Elmer Thomas Johnson both of Manassas and their families, one sister, Marie Oleyar and her husband Carl of Alexandria, his mother-in-law, Ruth Dove of Fairfax and six brother-in-laws. A devoted husband, father, grandparent and Christian, Mr. Johnson is also survived by many friends from his church families at Woodbine Baptist Church in Manassas and Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church in Brentsville. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 5, 2004 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Price Funeral Home 9609 Center Street Manassas, VA where funeral services will be held on Friday, August 6, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Danny Thomas officiating. Interment to follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens.
