Larry George Martin

Larry George Martin, age 73, of Manassas, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on December 15, 2025. He was born on August 28, 1952, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Larry was a devoted husband, father, and provider who worked hard throughout his life to care for his family. He believed in responsibility, showing up every day, and doing what needed to be done for the people he loved. His quiet strength, steady presence, and unwavering commitment to providing for his family defined the man he was. Larry proudly served in the United States Navy for 20 years, retiring as a Petty Officer Second Class (PO2). He served aboard ship and was deployed to Vietnam, dedicating much of his life to the service of his country. During his naval career, Larry was also a boxer and a barber, roles that reflected both his toughness and his ability to care for and connect with others. His military service was one of his greatest sources of pride. In 2005, Larry married Sherlane Martin in Norfolk, Virginia. As a husband, he was loyal and dependable. As a father, he was a steady provider who led by example, valuing hard work, perseverance, and responsibility. After retiring from the Navy, Larry continued to work in maintenance and handyman roles, always willing to fix what was broken and help where he could. He also spent time working with horses at a racetrack, a job he chose because of his love for watching the horses race and his desire to be close to them—something that brought him genuine joy. Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Sherlane; his brothers, Julius of Dansville VA and Dale and his wife, Colleen, of Pittsburg, California; and his sister, Mae of Charlotte, North Carolina. He is also fondly remembered by extended family members and friends who were touched by his generosity, reliability, and steady spirit. Larry will be cremated, and a memorial service with military honors at Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date, pending scheduling. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who loved him. “The greatest legacy a man leaves is not what he owned, but the lives he touched.”
