Kenneth James Croushorn

Kenneth James Croushorn, age 89, of Nokesville, VA passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Novant Health Prince William Medical Center. He was born on January 13, 1928 in Nokesville, VA the son of the late Roscoe C. and Lyla M. (Sonafrank) Croushorn. He retired as a mechanic for the Prince William County Service Authority and as a part time farmer on the Croushorn family farm. He worked for Atlantic Research during NASA’s programs to put a man on the moon, and cherished his contribution to the space race. A lifelong resident of Nokesville, he was dedicated to his family, community and to his church, where he served as a deacon at the Nokesville Church of the Brethren. Kenneth was a patient, soft-spoken man who cultivated a faithful life on the farm and with his family. He took pride in his bountiful garden, and was generous with its produce. He had a quiet sense of humor, and often planted sunflowers to spring up where they were least expected. He enjoyed softball & baseball, both as a player himself, and as a spectator for his children and grandchildren. He maintained a well-trimmed lawn, and received joy from the many kickball, baseball, and football games that it hosted. In his later years, he relaxed and smiled as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren ran in circles at family gatherings. He is deeply loved, fondly remembered and dearly missed. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Ann Beahm. Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Helen H. Croushorn; three sons, Kenneth Michael Croushorn and wife Marsha of Blacksburg, VA, James Clinton Croushorn and wife Lorraine of Nokesville, VA, Ronald Lee Croushorn and wife Irene of Nokesville, VA; one son-in-law, Chester and wife Carol Beahm; two brothers, George Croushorn of Mineral Wells, TX, Paul Croushorn of Sumerduck, VA; one sister, Margaret Webb of Reva, VA; Eighteen Grandchildren: Mark Croushorn, Melissa Croushorn, Matt and wife Tiphani Croushorn, Nathan and wife Katharine Beahm, Isaac and wife Kimberly Beahm, Jacob and wife Malinda Shenk, Hannah Beahm and Eddie Sampson, Timothy and wife Julie Beahm, Justin and wife Lauren Shenk, Jamie and wife Audrey Shenk, Micah Beahm, Allison Shenk, John and wife Abigail Beahm, Josiah Beahm, Luke and wife Karen Croushorn, Lisa and husband Manuel Gonzalez, Erik and wife Devon Croushorn, Sean Croushorn; Twenty-six Great Grandchildren: Judge Croushorn, Caleb Beahm, Tristan Beahm, Autumn Beahm, Trenton Beahm, Kinsley Beahm, Jessica Shenk, Victoria Shenk, Raymond Shenk, Claire Beahm, Wesley Beahm, Violet Beahm, Russell Beahm, Mason Shenk, Owen Shenk, Ella Shenk, Joshua Croushorn, Ian Croushorn, Austin Croushorn, Natalia Gonzalez, Bianca Gonzalez, James Roscoe Croushorn, Elias Croushorn, Evelyn Croushorn, Gwyneth Croushorn, Harvey Croushorn. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00PM Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA. Funeral services will be held at 12:00PM Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Nokesville Church of the Brethren, 13002 Fitzwater Dr., Nokesville, VA with Rev. Angela Finet officiating. Interment will follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens.
