Kareem Lashawn Marion, AKA "Shawn Poe" With heavy hearts and tears in our eyes, we mourn the passing of Kareem Lashawn Marion, at the age of 39. He was the beloved son of Debra Capers-Marion and Kirkland Marion, born on January 28, 1985, at the Naval Hospital in Beaufort, South Carolina. Shawn brought light and joy into the lives of all who knew him. On Saturday, March 30, 2024, Shawn passed away, answering the Master’s call and entering into Glory, leaving us with memories that will forever be etched in our hearts. Shawn was taught from a young age about the significance of developing a personal relationship with GOD as his Savior. These principles were ingrained in him by his grandmother and mother. Shawn understood the value of placing his trust in GOD in every facet of his life. Affectionately known as "Shawn Poe", he was a beacon of positivity and laughter. Shawn received his education in the local public schools of Prince William County. He had a passion for sports, fishing, catching frogs, and a love for food. Shawn enjoyed cooking, presenting his dishes, and dining at unique restaurants. Known for his jovial personality, Shawn touched the lives of many with his infectious charm and humble spirit. Every room he entered would instantly come alive with his presence, his laughter filling the air and his smile lighting up the darkest corners. The void left by Shawn's absence is immeasurable, a loss deeply felt by his family and friends. Shawn was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John Henry Capers, Sr., Inez Capers-Stevens, his uncles Freddie Capers, John Henry Capers, Jr., Arthur Capers, Don Capers, Keith Marion, and aunts Eleanor Capers-Reed, Betty Capers-Wright, and Karen Marion-Spruill. Shawn Poe is survived by his caring and loving mother, Debra Capers-Marion of Woodbridge, VA, his bonus father, Michael Boyd of Woodbridge, VA, his devoted father, Kirkland Marion (Shantell) of Waldorf, Maryland, his brothers Emanuel Marion (Ciara) of Fairfax, VA, and Travis Marion (Miah) of Chicago, IL. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Naima Marion of Fairfax, VA and Kamilah Marion of Chicago, IL, Miguel Marion of Atlanta, GA, Kaleo Marion of Chicago, IL, grandmother Jewel Marion-Millhouse of Pontiac, MI, aunts Larcencia Capers-Kemp (Walter) of Jacksonville, NC, Jennifer Capers-Sullivan (Marvin) of Jacksonville, FL, uncles Terry Aiken (Tangelia) of Riverview, FL, Kenneth and Kim Marion both of Pontiac, MI, Aunt Pearl, Pontiac, MI and numerous cousins, relatives, and close friends who will cherish his memory dearly. Though our hearts ache with grief, we find solace in the memories we shared with Shawn Poe, the moments of joy and laughter that will forever live on in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Shawn Poe, as you journey towards the eternal light of Glory. You will always be loved, always be missed, and always be remembered.
