June Marguerite Fox Obituary June Marguerite "Granny" Fox (nee Burroughs), 83, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, in Dumfries, Virginia. Born on July 19, 1942, in Washington D.C., she lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. June began her journey as a homemaker, dedicating herself to raising her children and creating a warm and welcoming home. Later in life, she returned to the workforce as a cafeteria manager for Fairfax County Public Schools. She especially cherished her time at Green Acres Elementary School in Fairfax, Virginia, where she found joy in serving students and connecting with staff. Known affectionately as "Granny", June was the heart of her neighborhood in Westmore. Her door was always open to children from all around-she was the neighborhood mom who welcomed everyone with kindness and playfulness. Whether it was board games or tag in the yard when she was younger, or video and computer games as she got older, June had a special way of making every child feel seen and loved. Her passions were many: bird watching from her window, keeping up with friends and family on Facebook, cheering at her grandchildren's sports events, or enjoying festive gatherings-whether for holidays or simply because she loved being surrounded by those she cared about. She also had a fondness for visiting MGM casino to try her luck at the slot machines. Animals held a special place in her heart too; she adored all creatures but had a particular bond with her chihuahuas-especially her beloved Shadow. June's deep appreciation extended to those who supported her through health challenges later in life. She never took kindness for granted and made sure others knew how much their care meant to her. She is survived by her loving sister Virginia Inez Byrne; brother Larry David Burroughs; sister Sandy Gail Worley; son David Duane Fox and daughter-in-law Jennifer Ruth Fox; daughter Janet Ann Bruce and son-in-law Glenn Bruce; daughter-in-law Christine Fox; eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Grady Nelson Fox; beloved daughter Carol Marie Fox; and cherished son Grady Nelson Fox Jr. June Marguerite "Granny" Fox leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and joy that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. May her memory bring comfort to all who loved her. A Viewing will be held on August 5, 2025, from 06:00 PM to 08:00 PM at Pierce Funeral Home 9609 Center St., Manassas, Virginia 20110. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, August 6th at 1:00pm. Interment following at Stonewall Memory Gardens . Remembrance reception will be held at: 25444 Crossfield Dr. Chantilly, VA 20152
