Juan (Tony) M. Lansdowne

Juan (Tony) Lansdowne was born on March 26, 1966, to Joyce Brooks and departed this life on March 30, 2026, at Capital Caring Health Center. Tony was a resident of Manassas, VA. He grew up in the Northern Virginia area and was educated in the Fairfax County Public School System, where he graduated from South Lakes High School. As a child, Tony had a gentle and mild-mannered nature. He was a joyful child, often content with simple things, like banging spoons on objects or spending time alone. His love for music appeared early. Growing up, he developed a deep love for all genres of music, especially Gogo music. His mother often had to remind him to turn down his headphones, especially when the drumbeats got too loud. He played bongos in the local church choir, which nurtured his love for drumming, cementing his lifelong passion for music. In high school, Tony kept a part-time job after school, driven by his desire to buy stylish clothes and get trendy haircuts. His brother Maurice would often joke with him about how much time Tony spent in their bathroom getting ready in perfecting his look, but it was clear, Tony just wanted to make sure he looked his best, even if it meant taking a little longer than expected. After graduation, Tony worked at the US Geological Survey for 17 years, a job he would have retired from had it not been for contract changes. During his immediate job search, Tony spent every day with his beloved grandmother, Gladys Lansdowne, at Cameron Crescent Skilled Nursing Facility, always updating the family on her daily well-being. Tony later worked at Home Depot and LA Fitness, where he enjoyed meeting and socializing with new people. Tony also took great pride in helping his mother when she started her business, GQ Cleaning. He was dedicated and hardworking, and she never received a single complaint about any of his work. His passion for fitness was unmatched, and he loved staying active in the gym. Tony also had a natural athletic ability and enjoyed watching sports, particularly golf. His other hobbies included, passion for old cars which he shared with his brother Robert, as well as watching classic movies, such as Uptown Saturday Night, another of his favorite past times. Tony was a active volunteer for the Reston Reunion, where he was on the committee and helped with event cleanup. Tony was well-known and loved in the local community. Tony accepted the Lord as his Savior as a young adult and was baptized at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, a decision that reflected his deep faith and love for God. His devotion to family was just as strong. His love for family gatherings, birthdays, BBQs, and cookouts were always wonderful opportunities in which he was able to share his love, warmth and joyful spirit with everyone around him. His enthusiasm and love for family made him the driving force behind many of the family’s get-togethers. Tony was preceded in death by his grandmother Gladys Lansdowne, and his three aunts: Loretta Lansdown, Doris Lansdowne, and Darlene Lansdowne. He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Joyce Brooks (Thomas); his two brothers, Maurice Lansdowne and Robert Brooks Jr. (April); his son, Devon Jackson, and his two grandchildren, Kyan Jackson and Keilani Jackson; his aunt, Dawn Newby; his uncle, Daryl Lansdowne; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Special friends: Paul Carter and the Gogo Crew, Donnel Tillman, and Dante Coleman.
