Philippians 2:3-4 • 1 Peter 4:10 Joseph “Joe” Greco, Jr., of Manassas, Virginia, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of selfless service and deep devotion to family and community. Joe was born on September 29, 1933, in Somerville, Massachusetts, the beloved son of the late Joseph and Clelia Greco. As the child of immigrant parents, he learned early the dignity of hard work, helping his family adjust to life in America — from learning English to delivering bread alongside his father, always with an eye toward earning a few pastries along the way. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard for 28 years, embodying duty, loyalty, and sacrifice. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Lois, at a casual lunch in Cleveland, Ohio — and it was love at first sight. They were married on October 4, 1958, and shared 67 beautiful years together. Joe was a long time member of All Saints Catholic Church in Manassas and a founding 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, George Brent Council. Joe was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and doting great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Lois; his sister, Virginia Salamack of Hagaman, NY; his sons James (Penny) of Kittery, ME and John (Annette) of Haymarket, VA; his granddaughters Cecelia Michel (James) of Culpeper, VA and Amanda Garand (Peter) of Carey, NC; and great-grandchildren Warren, Adeline, Scarlett, Arthur of Culpeper and Alexander and Andrea of Carey, NC who brought him endless joy; and special nieces and nephew. Joe’s life was defined by service. After his military career, he earned a BA in Communications and an MA in Liberal Studies from Marymount University. He then began giving tirelessly of his time as a volunteer — a calling he pursued long before it was widely recognized. Over the years he accrued nearly 20,000 volunteer hours serving others through the Prince William Hospital Emergency Room, Prince William Area Free Clinic, Prince William County Senior Services, Caton Merchant House, and Annaberg Manor. It all started with assisting an elderly couple with everyday tasks like grocery shopping, transportation, and property maintenance. Joe lived his faith through action — always putting others before himself, always giving generously of his time, talent, and heart. As we celebrate his remarkable life, may we each be inspired by his example to serve with humility and kindness. Let us carry forward his torch of compassion and let his light continue to shine in the world. Mass of Christian Burial for Joe Greco will be held at All Saints Catholic Church on January 15, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a reception in the Knights of Columbus Hall. Visitation will be at Pierce Funeral Home on January 14, 2026 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Quantico National Cemetery on January 19, 2026 at 11 a.m. In remembrance of Joe’s life of service, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, any charitable donations be made to the Prince William Area Free Clinic .
