John William Brady, Jr., MD

Dr. John William Brady, Jr. passed peacefully in his sleep at home early Sunday morning, April 12, 2026. He was surrounded by the love of his devoted family and his sweet dog, Susie. A man of deep faith and tireless dedication, Dr. Brady lived a purposeful life of 86 years that defied medical odds and touched countless lives. Born November 8, 1939, John was the son of hardworking parents who owned a small grocery store in Washington, D.C. Throughout his teenage years and even while in medical school, he worked in the family grocery store. John attended public schools in Silver Spring, Maryland, graduating from Montgomery Blair High School. He then attended Marietta College in Ohio and received his B.S. degree in Biology. He went on to attend medical school at George Washington University and completed an Internal Medicine internship at West Virginia University. He was then honored to serve as a general medical officer in the United States Navy for two years. He served with the Gold Crew on the USS John Adams, a Polaris submarine. Following his service, he returned to West Virginia University for further Internal Medicine training, where he met his wife, Ann. They moved to Richmond where he completed a residency in dermatology. He was again honored to serve as an assistant professor in the Department of Dermatology at the Medical College of Virginia for 2 ½ years. After working for short periods in Elkins, West Virginia and Warren, Ohio, he established his dermatology practice and home in Manassas, Virginia in 1977. John is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Ann Brady; his sister, Jane Brady; his daughter, Katie Brunk and her husband Joey Brunk; his son, David Brady and his wife Sarah Brady; and his three cherished grandchildren, Henry, Yeardley, and Charlotte. John was preceded in death by his parents, John William and Kathleen Brady; his sister, Diane Woodard; and his first son, Will, who passed from leukemia in 1981. A Memorial Service officiated by Pastor Barry Bryson will be held on Saturday, April 18, at 12:00 PM at the Manassas Church of Christ. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 11:00 AM. For those unable to attend, a livestream will be available on the church’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
