Joanna Marie Cook

Joanna Marie Cook, age 83 went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at her home in Haymarket, VA surrounded by her family and loved ones. Joanna was born on April 20, 1932 in Luray, VA to Cletus Cowie Miller and Anna Marie Miller, the oldest of three children. She graduated from Osbourn High School, Manassas, VA Class of 1950. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy in life. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She was a selfless and amazing woman who touched and helped so many. Her kindness, smile and laughter will always remain in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Edwin Lee Cook, Sr., her father Cletus Cowie Miller, her mother Anna Marie Miller, her brother, Eddie K. Miller, Sr. and her daughter-in-law, Bernadette Cook. She leaves behind her children Edwin Lee Cook, Jr. and Lisa Bayles of Sterling, VA; Steven Michael Cook, Sr. and wife Patti of Manassas Park, VA; Bruce Franklin Cook, Sr. and wife Cindy of Front Royal, VA; Brenda Darlene Runion, and husband Arthur, Sr. of Linden, VA; Richard Bryan Cook and wife Angela of Front Royal, VA, and Sharon Leanna Marino and husband Michael, Sr. of Haymarket, VA. She was the proud grandmother to Karen Kloehn, Danielle Althoff, Brittany Cook, Stephanie Reyes, Steven Cook, Jr., Bryan Duncan, Bruce Cook, Jr., Monica Cook, Arthur Runion, Jr., Matthew Runion, Lauren Runion, Katherine Cook, Michael St. Clair, Jessica Cook, Megan Marino, and Michael Marino, Jr; along with 20 great grandchildren and counting. She is also survived by one brother Winston D. Miller and wife Rebecca and one sister-in-law, Judy Miller from Manassas, VA., and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday November 10, 2015 from 6:00-9:00 PM and on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA. Services will be held 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 8712 Plantation Ln, Manassas, VA. Interment will follow at Stafford Memorial Park, Stafford, VA. In addition to flowers, donations can be made to either Capital Caring Hospice Services 24419 Millstream Drive Aldie, VA 20105 or Bethel Lutheran Church in memory of Joanna Marie Cook.
