Jesus Castillo

Jesus Castillo, 69, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2023 in Fairfax, Virginia surrounded by family. Born in a small town in Zacatecas, Mexico in 1954, Jesus spent his adolescence working in the bean and corn fields with his father and brothers. In 1976, he met the love of his life, Elva Alvarado, born in the same town. They were inseparable from the day they met and officially married in the church in 2011. In 1978, at only 24, Jesus moved to Texas in pursuit of the American dream, and his family later followed. Through hard work and dedication, Jesus and Elva worked tirelessly to make this dream a reality for themselves and for their children. It is only because of their many sacrifices that their children have the opportunities and privileges that they could have only dreamed of. Jesus was a kind, honest, humble, and extraordinarily hard working man who loved his profession and put his heart into every project he took on. He was a master mason, a genius with numbers, and could measure anything just by looking at it. A voracious reader, he could often be found with his nose in a book and a smile on his face on the front porch. He was a lifelong student of history and learning and dreamt of being a teacher when he was a young child. A man of a few words but many friends, Jesus’ jokes were easy to laugh at and always left you learning something interesting. He was so loving and caring to his family and all the people he knew and worked with. Jesus’ family were his purpose, his reason, and his greatest joy, and he loved nothing more than spending time with them along with his dog Chiko who he is reunited with in Heaven. Jesus is survived by his wife of 47 years, Elva; his children, Antonio, Araceli, Florisel and Erika; his grandchildren, and many other family members and friends here in United States and in Mexico. He will be deeply missed and his legacy of kindness and honesty will live on with his children. Nacido en un pequeño pueblo de Zacatecas, México en1954, Jesús pasó su adolescencia trabajando en los campos de frijol y maíz con su padre y hermanos. En1976 conoció al amor de su vida, Elva Alvarado, nacidaen el mismo pueblo. Fueron inseparables desde el día enque se conocieron y se casaron oficialmente por la iglesia en 2011. En 1978, con sólo 24 años, Jesús se trasladó a Texas enbusca del sueño americano, y su familia le siguió mástarde. A través del trabajo duro y la dedicación, Jesús y Elva trabajaron incansablemente para hacer de este sueño una realidad para ellos y para sus hijos. Gracias a sus muchos sacrificios, sus hijos tienen las oportunidades y los privilegios con los que ellos sólo podían soñar. Jesús era un hombre amable, honesto, humilde y extraordinariamente trabajador que amaba su profesión y ponía todo su corazón en cada proyecto que emprendía. Era un maestro albañil, un genio con los números y podía medir cualquier cosa con sólo mirarla. Lector voraz, a menudo se le podía encontrar con la nariz metida en un libro y una sonrisa en la cara en el porche. Durante toda su vida estudió historia, y de pequeño soñaba con ser profesor. Hombre de pocas palabras pero muchos amigos, las bromas de Jesús eran fáciles de reír y siemprete dejaban aprendiendo algo interesante. Era muy cariñoso yo atento con su familia y con todas las personas que conocía y con las que trabajaba. La familia de Jesús era su propósito, su razón y su mayor alegría, y nada amaba más que pasar tiempo con ellos juntos y con su perro Chiko con quien se reunirá en el Cielo. A Jesús le sobreviven su esposa de 47 años, Elva; sus hijos, Antonio, Araceli, Florisel y Erika; sus nietos, y muchos otros familiares y amigos aquí en Estados Unidos y en México. Lo extrañaremos profundamente y su legado de bondad y honestidad vivirá con sus hijos.
