Janice Eisenhart

Janice Elaine Eisenhart Janice Eisenhart was born in 1947 in Alexandria, Virginia. The second of five siblings, she quickly developed the determination that would be the cornerstone of her personality. She was also graced with empathy and understanding. These traits would make her a valued confidant and advisor to her co-workers and friends. After graduating from Mount Vernon HS in Fairfax, she attended Bluefield College in VA. Transferring to Radford College she graduated with a BS degree in Library Science. In 1972 Janice joined the Prince William County Library as a children's librarian. In that capacity, she shared the joy of reading with generations of children and employed the art of storytelling often dressing in character to engage the imaginations of her charges. Janice was also deeply involved with the Manassas Chorale and the Prince William Little Theatre. Her soprano voice was part of countless productions and she played the lead, Miss Maple, in the 1997 production of The Butler Did It. The greatest joy of her career was the opportunity to perform in Carnegie Hall in 2009 with the Chorale. Janice was a child of God whose faith guided her life. She was faithful to the Lord she learned to love and serve from her parents, Hap and Louise. She had been an active member of the Manassas Baptist Church for more than three decades, especially with the members of the JOY class. Her family rejoices that she has gone home to be with her savior Jesus Christ. Janice also enjoyed travel. Whether it was an overnight to see a play with friends, travels with her sisters in the west and Alaska, or visits to her beloved London, she reveled in the experience and the opportunity to see new things. All of these experiences returned with her to the library to add new dimensions to her programs for children. Her mother Louise, her three sisters Marcia, Sharon, and Nancy and their families and a host of colleagues and friends in her extended Manassas family survive Janice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the Prince William County Library where a memorial window is planned in the children's section. Checks may be made to PWPLS with Janice Eisenhart's name in the memo line. Cards and condolences for the family will be accepted by Manassas Baptist Church, 8800 Sudley Rd., Manassas, VA 20110. A Celebration of Life service is planned for 1:00 pm on January 15th at the Manassas Baptist Church. Additional details will be published in the church bulletin and be available from the church office early next year. Her family anticipates the opportunity to share memories of Janice with the Manassas community.
