James Elbert Davis Jr.

On August 13th, James Elbert Davis, Jr., 59, of Nokesville, VA died unexpectedly at his home, of heat exhaustion. James was an amazing man and loved by all who knew him. He had a sense of humor that could make you laugh even in the hardest situations. His calm, compassionate and loving nature made him the one that our family called first with anything that was going on. James was always so much fun and his beautiful smile brightened our days. James was a talented and hardworking man with many accomplishments. His family was the one he was most proud of and he always put us first. James was born in Alabama to James and Mattie Davis, Sr. and has a sister Monica. He always spoke fondly of his family, friends and neighbors. He has an amazing family and many friends everywhere he went. In 1988, he graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree from University of North Alabama. Shortly after, James joined the Navy and served in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. From there, James began his career as a Software Engineer, which he loved and enjoyed going to everyday. He always believed in learning and growing in everything he did. In 2003, he graduated from George Washington University with a Master's in Computer Science. His creativity and ingenuity helped his team earn a U.S. Patent in 2011. In 2005, he met his wife Sabrina and they were married in 2008. They had a wonderful life together that they cherished everyday. They were blessed with 2 kids and 2 amazing god-daughters. His living children are his son Preston, age 7; God-daughter Becca, age 25; and God-daughter Cora, age 20. His daughter Gemma, who preceded him in death, would have been 2. He was an amazing husband and daddy and was always playing and spending time with his family. There was always a race to see who could get to daddy first when he got home. His Husky, Bella, often won. His presence will be missed everyday but his love and memory will live on thru us. James was a man of faith, and everyday in our prayers, he would pray "Thank you God for letting us wake up and see another beautiful day and watch over and protect us as we move through it." James was a man that took nothing for granted and was grateful for all he received and accomplished. We are grateful for every moment we were blessed to have him in our life and we are eager for the day that God will reunite us. His funeral arrangements are: *Visitation will be held on August 25th from 6-8pm at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA 20110. *Funeral Services will be held August 26th at Noon at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA 20110. In honor of his service in the Navy, James will be laid to rest at Quantico National Cemetery, alongside his daughter Gemma. Procession will follow the service.
