Hilde Jean McCuin

Hilde McCuin, 64, of Nokesville, Virginia, peacefully went to be with the Lord May 4, 2023 at the Alder Center for Caring surrounded by both family and work family after a short battle with lung cancer. She was born in Washington, D.C., to Carolyn Ross Roof and Robert Roof on July 17, 1958. She grew up in both Arlington and Manassas, Virginia. She graduated from Osbourn High School in 1976 where she ran track. Hilde graduated from the School of Nursing with Prince William County Public Schools and started working in hospice care shortly thereafter. Hilde was a devoted and caring hospice nurse to countless patients over her 22 years in the healthcare industry. She made many lifelong friends working for different hospice organizations throughout her career. Hilde was a devoted wife, mother, and Mimi (grandma). She loved spending time with her three granddaughters, who were the lights of her life. She also enjoyed baking, cooking, and spending time at any beach. Hilde was best known for her rice krispy treats, brownies, chipped beef, and dinner rolls. She was an avid beachcomber and spent countless hours searching for shells on every beach she visited. Hilde’s favorite beaches to visit were the Outer Banks and Topsail Island in North Carolina. When not at home, you could most easily find Hilde in Colonial Beach, Virginia, along the Potomac River. This was her second home and spot to relax and unwind. Participating in parades, taking buggy rides, relaxing on the boat, and watching the girls play on the beach made Colonial Beach all the more special for her. She is survived by her loving husband, Alan; son, Josh (Charlena) McCuin of Nokesville, Virginia; granddaughters Alyson, Hadley, and Sadie; three brothers: Forrest (Mary) of Manassas, Virginia, Marty (Carolyn) of Front Royal, Virginia, and Terry (Fran) of Culpeper, Virginia; and all of her beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and extended family members. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Carolyn and Robert Roof, and her sister, Karen Roof. Friends and family are welcome to attend a visitation at Pierce Funeral Home on May 11 from 6-8 p.m. in Manassas, Virginia and a celebration of life held at Victory Baptist Church in Nokesville, Virginia on May 12 at 11 a.m. with lunch to follow.
