Harold C. Trask

Harold C. Trask, 93, of Manassas, Virginia, died peacefully on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Caton Merchant House. Born on Christmas Day of 1929, in Yonkers, N.Y., he was the son of the late Harold C. Trask, Sr., and Mary Powers Trask. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Frances G. Trask; and by five of his siblings. Harold made a lasting impression on everyone he ever met. Whether by one of his many stories, jokes, or “Harold-isms,” he was quite the character. Growing up during the depression in Yonkers, N.Y., he came from a large family that always managed to get through life’s ups and downs together. He worked at Phelps Dodge as a cable engineer for 20 years, and then went on to work as a custodian at Our Lady of Fatima until his retirement. He enjoyed being with his family and friends and was an avid walker until his later years. Harold is survived by his children, daughter, Kathleen A. Caruso and her husband Raymond, of Manassas, Va.; daughter, Gail M. Benson and her husband Roy, of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; and son, Robert Trask and his wife Ann, of Scarsdale, N.Y.; grandchildren, Michael C. Caruso and wife Jen, of Clifton, Va.; Jennifer Byrne and her husband Michael, of Barboursville, Va.; and Evan Trask, of Scarsdale, N.Y.; great-grandchildren, Timothy and Dylan Caruso, of Clifton, Va.; his sister, Barbara Cross, of Ormond Beach, Fla.; sister-in-law, Claire Piltz, of Essex, Md.; cousin, Sister Amy Marie “Janet,” of Hartsdale, N.Y.; along with several nieces and nephews, and many friends in New York and Virginia. A special thank you to all of the wonderful caregivers at Caton Merchant House, Doctor Arun Gupta of Manassas, and Capital Caring Hospice. His family would also like to extend thanks to Harold’s good friend, Lillian Orlich, who held a special place in Harold’s heart. A celebration of Harold’s life will be announced for June of this year.
