Harold Ritz Frampton

Harold "Hal" Ritz Frampton, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and man of faith, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, in Leesburg, VA. He was 79 years old. Born in Charleston, WV, on July 30, 1947, Hal's journey eventually brought him to Northern Virginia, where he resided for more than 60 years. In 1984, he settled in Gainesville, VA, where he raised his family and built a life defined by faith, hard work, and deep love for those around him. Hal was a proud graduate of Virginia Tech, Class of 1969, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. It was there, on the set of the Virginia Tech production of The Girlfriend, that he met his beloved Kathleen — Hal behind the scenes building the scenery, Kathleen on stage bringing it to life — a perfect picture of the partnership that would follow. They married on September 13, 1969, beginning 57 years of devoted life together. A lifelong Hokie at heart, Hal rarely missed a Virginia Tech football game and wore his orange and maroon with pride until the end. Professionally, Hal dedicated his career to the science and craft of flight simulation, contributing his engineering talents to Hughes, Honeywell, and Raytheon — helping to build the systems that trained generations of military and civilian pilots. His drive and expertise ultimately led him to found his own company, The Bridge, LLC, where he continued to leave a lasting mark on government engineering and construction projects. At the center of Hal's life was his love for Jesus Christ. Wherever he worshipped, he gave freely of himself — serving on the vestry and session of the churches he attended and putting his God-given gifts of project management, planning, and forecasting to work in service of his church communities. He participated in refugee resettlement efforts and Operation Christmas Child, bringing tangible hope to families in need. Hal did not simply attend church — he served it, built it up, and poured himself into it, just as he did with every person and purpose he held dear. He led a life of service to others in the truest sense. Above all else, Hal lived a life defined by his faith in Christ and his deep love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion, hard work, and quiet, steadfast kindness. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Richard and Kathryn Kingdon Frampton, and his brothers, Arthur and Richard Frampton. Hal is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen; his children, Nathan, Ellen, and Sarah; and his eight grandchildren, Dakota, Caroline, Kathryn, Julia, Abigail, Samuel, Elliott, and Claire — each one a reflection of the love and faith he poured into his family every day.
