Hannah Surplus Binsky

Hannah Surplus Binsky, 77, a resident of Legacy Ridge Memory Care in Gainesville, Virginia, passed away on November 13, 2024, due to complications from Alzheimer’s Dementia. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, and friend to so many. Known for her strength, warm spirit, big smile and contagious laugh, Hannah embedded herself in the hearts of anyone she encountered. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania February 24, 1947, an only child, Hannah’s early childhood years were spent in Washington, DC. After moving to Manassas Park in 1955, Hannah attended school in Manassas, Virginia at Baldwin Elementary, Bennett Elementary and graduated from Osbourn High School in 1965. Hannah remained deeply connected to her hometown throughout her life. She cherished the friendships she made and loved spending time with those close to her. After high school, Hannah embarked on a successful career with Marriott Corporation (Marriott Global Sales), where she retired from in 2013 after 34 years. Her hard work and dedication earned her the admiration of her many colleagues, whom she thought of as family. Hannah was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Kimber Surplus & Letitia Davies Surplus of Manassas Park, her husband of 24 years, George Joseph Binsky, and her son Donald Christoper Blevins. Her memory lives on in her surviving family: her son Michael Dean (Lori) of Odenton, Maryland and daughter Lisa Colgan (Pat) of Warrenton, Va; her cherished grandchildren Patrick Colgan Jr. (Kelsey), Joey Colgan (Grace), Christopher & Nicholas Dean, MacKenzie Heflin, Cydney Colgan, Michael Sukeena IV, Will Campos and her great-granddaughter, Hazel Colgan. Hannah always emphasized the importance of friendships and the blessings she had in all her relationships with them. Her friends were her family. Hannah’s legacy of love and resilience will forever be remembered by her family and all who knew her.
