Grace Drauszewski

Grace Belle Drauszewski of Manassas, VA passed away peacefully on 4 April 2013 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Surrounded by her loving family after a short but hard fought battle with numerous complications, Grace surrendered into the loving arms of her savior, Jesus Christ. Grace was born on 8 June 1939 in Horton, KS to Lester and Irene Swendson. She lived on the family farm until her graduation from high school. Striking out to make a life for herself, Grace met Joseph Drauszewski of Derby, CT and they were married on 6 September 1958. The journey of a lifetime followed Grace as she followed Joe around the world as the wife of a military member. Grace and Joe raised their six children and she was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren before her passing. Grace assumed many roles throughout her life and was the happiest when exhilarating in the joy of watching her grandchildren grow and blossom into young adults. Grace was always present at any event involving her children or grandchildren. Born a Kansas 'Jayhawk', Grace upped the ante in her later years and became a Jayhawk fan of the highest magnitude. Her home was infused with Jayhawk paraphernalia, even decorating one bathroom entirely in Jayhawk motif. Rock Chalk Jayhawk! She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Joseph C. Drauszewski; her six children and their spouses: Matthew & Lora Drauszewski, William & Monique Drauszewski, Andrew & Nancy Drauszewski, Diane & John Reed, Mark & Judy Drauszewski, and Tammy & Jim Peters; her grandchildren and their spouses: Jessica and Jason Fairbanks, Luke Drauszewski, Rebekah Drauszewski, Mary & Caleb Bennett, Levi Drauszewski, Noa Drauszewski, Sarah & Galen Ridgell, Michelle & Mike Rannells, Joseph Drauszewski, Samantha Reed, Danielle Reed, Elizabeth Drauszewski, Lydia Drauszewski, Shelby Peters, and Kylie Peters. Her great grandchildren: Natalie, Scott and Evelyn Fairbanks, Kimberly Rannells, and Timothy and Joseph Henson. Visitation service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 3-5 PM at Pierce Funeral Home in Manassas, VA. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 10 AM at All Saints Catholic Church, Manassas, VA. Interment will follow after Mass at 12:00 noon at Quantico National Cemetery.
