Glover Hopkins

Glover Edward Hopkins II, USAF, departed this earthly life on Sunday, June 23, 2013. He was born to the late Thomas Woodard and Minnie Johnson Hopkins. Glover graduated from Mather Academy in Camden, South Carolina. After graduation, he entered USAF and was honorably discharged in 1959. In 1961, he and Ethel Moorman were united in holy matrimony. They moved to Los Angeles, California where he completed his college degree. He is a graduate of University of Southern California. As an alumni, he was very generous to his schools. He was employed by Mobil Oil Company and retired after 35 years of service. He was a faithful member of All Saints Catholic Church. He was an avid sports fan: his favorite teams were LA Dodgers and Lakers. Glover loved and supported his family unconditionally. He shared his love so generously and enthusiastically. He always had a soft touch, a smile and a sense of humor for everyone he met. He was grateful to have a predeceased sister, Evelyn Williams and a sister-in-law, Fannie Sharpe as guardians to help keep him grounded. He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife, Ethel of 52 years; sons, Byron Bernard Hopkins and Eric Mark Hopkins; daughters ,Valerie Fatemah Hopkins-Dili, and Cynthia Imani (Pepe )Hopkins-Gonzalez; granddaughters, India and Ananda Gonzalez; sisters, Ruby (John) Jones , Dorothy Hopkins Robinson; in-laws, Fannie Sharpe, George Moorman, Horace Moorman, Lawrence (Helen) Moorman, Jeannetta Marie Donnell, Teresa Moorman, Ruth Moorman, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by parents, Minnie and Thomas Hopkins; sisters, Evelyn (Abraham) Williams, and Lucy (Walter) Jones; brothers, Thomas (Willie Ruby) Hopkins, John (Margaret) Hopkins and Joseph (Azalee) Hopkins. The family of the late Glover Edward Hopkins wishes to acknowledge with sincere gratitude all the expressions of prayer, love through flowers, cards and other acts of kindness. Special thanks are extended to Dr Robert Marsh and staff, Dr George Bazaco, Nurses; Jill, and Dori at Prince William Hospital, Gainesville Cancer Center and the nurses at Vitas Hospice care. Mr. Hopkins was laid to rest at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.
