Eugene Scott Ridgeway

Eugene “Scott” Ridgeway, 71, of Greensboro, NC, passed away on August 1, 2026, after a battle with cholangiocarcinoma. Scott was born on June 24, 1955, in Altavista, Virginia to parents Patsy Farmer Ridgeway and Samuel Burnette Ridgeway. Scott graduated from Southern Guilford High School in 1973 and UNCG in 1981, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Scott worked for over 40 years holding various positions in the water and sewer supply industry, beginning his career with close friends of his father's at A&P water and sewer company, and later retiring from Core & Main. Scott was an avid tennis player in his younger years and forged life-long friendships with the "Brewhawgs", a city tennis league. As the years passed, he transitioned to playing golf with the "Hawgs", as well as with neighbors and friends. He thoroughly enjoyed his golf trips, whether he was playing or attending tournaments as a fan. He was a warm and caring man who loved sharing food, wine, and good conversation with family and friends. When he wasn't on the tennis or golf court, Scott cherished the time he spent with Jake and Jesse, beloved Labrador Retrievers. Scott was a friendly and outgoing person who never met a stranger. His memory will be cherished and never forgotten. Scott is preceded in death by his father, Samuel Burnette Ridgeway. He is survived by his mother, Patsy Farmer of Randleman, NC; sisters, Robin York of Randleman, NC and Melody Ridgeway of Manassas, VA; niece, Crystal Valen Foster of Randleman, NC; nephew, Cullen Green of North Chesterfield, VA; niece, Haven Mackenzie York of Greensboro, NC, (partner Mikey Almaraz); great-nieces and nephews: Olivia Foster, Aubrey McManaway, Juan Almaraz, Asher Almaraz, and Zaylee Almaraz. He loved his family deeply and was loved in return by his immediate and extended family, along with many special friends. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 1 pm at Lakeview Cemetery in Greensboro, NC. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. The family would also like to thank their many friends for their love and support during this time. Everyone has been a blessing, and it is deeply appreciated.
