Eric Brent Oetjen

“Be sure to be super kind and helpful.” Eric Brent Oetjen, 38, of Warrenton, Virginia, passed peacefully to eternal life on January 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving family while his favorite songs played softly in the room. Eric was born on November 20, 1984, in Manassas, Virginia. He attended Osbourn Park High School where he learned firsthand the value of education and often tutored many of his friends in math. He furthered his education at George Mason University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. Eric had a strong work ethic and was well known as a man of service. He had a heart of gold, was like family to his friends and was always willing to help those in need. The impact he had on everyone he met was immeasurable. His legacy will be to live and lead with kindness. Eric’s greatest gift was his devotion to his family. He reminded his sons, Aiden and Lucas, each morning as they left for school to “be sure to be super kind and helpful.” He enthusiastically coached Aiden and his little league team in baseball. His favorite days were spent enjoying time with his children playing sports or going to National’s Park to watch a baseball game, his all-time favorite sport. He is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie, his loving sons Aiden (with Justine Roque) and Lucas, and his loving bonus children, Aidan and Mikayla. He was so proud of all of his children. Eric is also survived by his parents, Jeff and Cheryl Oetjen. Eric was their youngest child and was greatly loved by his parents, his older brothers Mark and Michael, and their wives Courtney and Sarah. His nieces and nephews Kinsley, Drew, Natalie, Luke, and Connor adored “Uncle Eric”. He is also survived by his paternal grandparents (Grandma & Pop-Pop Oetjen), and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Analynn Janovetz and Howard Mitchell “Mitch” Parsons. His cousin, Father Steven Oetjen, is a priest who will preside over the funeral mass and the celebration of life. The mass will be held on Friday, January 20 at 11 am: St. John the Evangelist, 271 Winchester St. Warrenton, VA 20186 The celebration of life will be held following the funeral mass at 1pm: The Bigaloos @ 2 Silos Brewery 9925 Discovery Blvd. Manassas, Virginia 20109 Eric’s family welcomes everyone to celebrate his life and legacy.
