Ellen Liberti Blasiotti

Ellen was born on June 12, 1947. She grew up in Alexandria Virginia. She attended Blessed Sacrament School (grades 1 – 8). She attended Francis C. Hammond High School and graduated in 1969. After which she earned her Bachelor’s degree from Mary Washington College followed by a Master of Arts in Liberal studies at Georgetown University in 1983. She started her career working for the U.S. Department of State in the Bureau of Public Affairs. She worked as an assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Public Affairs. Later she was employed by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, working with Mrs. Madeline Wills the Assistant Secretary of State (George Wills’ wife). She moved to the U.S. Information Agency and later to the National Institute of Disability and Rehabilitation Research. She was instrumental in pioneering the development of a data base to assist the disabled. It was enormous undertaking and was acclaimed as a huge benefit for the disabled. She also worked on a five year plan for rehabilitation of people with disabilities in India. She participated as a delegate to the U.S./Japan Common Agenda in Hawaii. Other accomplishments: she wrote a chapter in the Hand Book on Disability. She worked on the Mary Washington Yearbook while in attendance. While working for the Secretary of Public Affairs she received the Restructuring of Management Award. She married Louis Blasiotti on June 15, 1991 at All Saints Catholic Church in Manassas. Father Flood administered the Sacrament of Marriage. Ellen and her husband Louis moved to Haymarket in 2001. She retired along with her husband in 2006. Her hobbies were Painting, Decorating, Jazzercise and playing Mahjong with her friends. She joined the Legion of Mary at Holy Trinity Church where she served as Secretary, Vice President and President working with Father Francis Peffley. During her retirement she and Louis participated in many cruises to the Caribbean, one of which was with Father Peffley’s group. In 2021 she suffered from Covid 19 coming close to death. From that time forward her health has slowly deteriorated. In November of 2025 she relocated to the Wellington Assisted Living Facility in Gainesville, Virginia where she was cared for by the Nursing Staff. On August 3, 2026 at 2:30 pm she passed on to the Loving Arms of Jesus.
