Edward "Ed" William Reddick Jr.

Edward (Ed) William Reddick Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on August 18, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on December 21, 1945, in Frankfurt, Michigan, Ed was the son of Edward and Catherine (Chulufus) Reddick. He grew up alongside his siblings Sharon, Richard, and William, and graduated from Montague High School in 1964. After high school, he attended the University of Michigan before enlisting in the United States Army in 1968. His distinguished military career spanned more than two decades. He was commissioned as an officer in 1972 and faithfully served in a variety of roles, including as a Field Artillery Officer (13A), in Research & Development (51A), and in Material Management (92B). He retired as a Major (O-4) in February 1990 after 21 years of dedicated service. During this time, Ed also pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma, and later a Master of Science in Systems Management from the University of Southern California in 1988. Throughout his military career, Ed was recognized for his exceptional leadership and service. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon (3). After his military retirement, Ed and his family moved to Manassas, Virginia, which became their home after many years of moving with the Army. From here, he began his second career chapter, continuing to serve his country through his civilian work. He spent nearly 20 years as a Department of Defense contractor and later nine years as a federal employee. He retired from government service while at the Pentagon, working with Headquarters, Department of the Army G-4. On June 21, 1974, while stationed in Panama, Ed married Edilsa (Marciaga). They shared 51 years of marriage together and raised three children. Ed is survived by his devoted wife, Edilsa; their children, Juan, Michele, and David (Jill); five grandchildren, Nya, Aubrey, Benjamin, Maggie, and Gabriel; his brother Richard Reddick; and brother-in-law, Jim DeWitt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Catherine, his sister Sharon DeWitt, and his brother William Reddick. Ed will be remembered for his deep love of family, his devotion to his grandchildren, and his lifelong passion for learning. He especially enjoyed making pancakes for his grandchildren and maintaining the family pool so they could swim there during the summer. He delighted in reading and researching a wide range of subjects, always seeking to understand the world more deeply. At home, Ed was known for his determination to take on complex projects and his ability to turn challenges into accomplishments. His quiet strength, wisdom, and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. Funeral services with military honors for Major Edward W. Reddick Jr., U.S. Army (Ret.) will be held on September 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery at Quantico, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA 22172. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to friends and loved ones for the outpouring of support during this time. Ed’s life was one of service, love, and dedication, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
