Drexel Wayne Ferguson

Drexel W. Ferguson 78, of Manassas, VA passed away Friday, October 4, 2024, at Prince William Medical Center after a brief illness. Drexel was born on February 14, 1946, and was the son of Joseph and Ina (McMillian) Ferguson. He was a 1964 graduate of Bedford High School in Temperance, MI. Drexel made Virginia his home in 1970. He was the Supervisor of the Powder Coating department at NJ Sullivan in Dulles, VA where he retired from August 1, 2024. Drexel loved softball and up until 6 years ago, he played and then coached a men’s senior league. His most recent passion was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle any chance he got. Drexel is survived by his daughter, Patty Ferguson who returned to Manassas 4 years ago to live with him as well as his grandson, Jakob Klecz and great-granddaughter, Courtney Klecz of New Martinsville, WV; his daughter, Amanda Lucciotti and her family of Bristow, VA; and his daughter, Angella (Sean) Page & grandchildren, Grayson, Alyssa, Ashlynn, and Rylan of Fredericksburg, VA. He is also survived by his loving siblings; Carmen (Ron) Cousino of Temperance, MI, Marvell (Richard) Edinger of Sylvania, OH, Michael (Valerie) Ferguson of Miami, FL, and Patrick Ferguson of Temperance, MI, along with multiple nieces and nephews scattered around the United States and one in the Netherlands. Apart from the past 10 years, every year Drexel would return to Michigan where he, all his siblings, nieces and nephews would gather to catch up on each other’s lives. The brothers and sisters would entertain all the kids by reminiscing about the antics and mischievous things they did as kids, and with there being 10 kids, there were plenty of stories. Each kid couldn’t wait to hear a story that involved their parent. Along with the stories told, there was always delicious, home cooked food, food that reminded them of their childhood. No matter where they gathered, there were always multiple tables set up so whoever wanted to, could play Euchre, a card game popular in the Midwest. Drexel was preceded in death by his three sisters, Ina Jo Bylund, Kay Claussen, and Cynthia Ferguson; and two brothers, Don Ferguson, and Art Ferguson. Drexel’s wishes were to be cremated, and he did not want a funeral. A Celebration of Life will be held for him and his brother Art, who passed away in July of this year in Michigan this summer. His daughter, Patty would like to thank Vanessa, Jorge, and Nate; three incredibly special people who helped her care for him the last month of his life.
