Doris Jean Biggs

It is with great sadness that the family of Doris Jean Biggs announce her passing on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the age of 86 in Culpeper, VA. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. Doris was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Iva (Cook) Biggs, as well as her siblings Mary, Roy, Frank, Jimmy, and Kenny. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Warren David Turley (Faye), Tina Marie Collins (Dan), and Lanelle Lynn Morris (Johnny); her grandchildren: Cindy, Kyndle, Brian, Shyanne, Sierra, Nick, JJ, Josh, and Zach; her great-grandchildren: Makenzie, Riley Jean, Daniel Jr., and Kyrie; as well as her niece and very close friend, Jean Sisk. Doris was born and raised in Arlington, Virginia and remained in the northern Virginia area for the entirety of her life. She owned and operated her own at-home childcare business for over 30 years and was also a very proud AVON salesperson. Doris loved the sunshine and went on many adventures across the United States- including Arizona, Wyoming, and (her favorite) Florida. Her hobbies included bowling, bingo, and listening to classic country music. Although she enjoyed many country music artists (including Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty), Doris was a self-proclaimed “Merle’s Girl”, and had a very special place in her heart for Merle Haggard. While Doris was a fiercely independent woman who was unafraid to speak her mind, she was also an especially sentimental person who collected many keepsakes through the years from her loved ones. Doris enjoyed spending quality time with her children and grandchildren and delighted in sharing her life story with them while poring over family photo albums. She will be greatly missed and will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her forever. Please join us in celebrating Doris’ life at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 18, 2024. The service will be held at Pierce Funeral Home in Manassas, Virginia. Afterward, she will be laid to rest at National Memorial Park Cemetery in Falls Church, Virginia.
