Dominic Gerard Hartung

With heavy hearts we announce that Dominic Gerard Hartung of Amissville, VA passed away on September 10, 2026, at the age of 24. Dominic was born on December 7, 2001, in Suffolk, VA to Paul and Maria Hartung. Throughout his childhood he lived in Franklin, VA, Waynesboro, PA, Norfolk, VA, and Manassas, VA. He attended Christ the King Catholic School in Norfolk, VA and Seton School in Manassas, VA. After graduating from Seton School in 2020, Dominic worked for the Upper Occoquan Service Authority for many years before leaving that role to start his own business, Hartung Excavations. Dominic was a beloved son, steadfast brother, loving fiancé, loyal friend, and child of God. He was a natural leader and teacher, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was quick with a big smile or a joke that could bring a room together in laughter. Honest, hard-working, and goofy, Dominic was a genuine and good man. Dominic was a self-taught mechanic, and he was often working on trucks, machinery, and four-wheelers. His love of the outdoors started early, and as a child he was often found outside getting dirty. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, riding four-wheelers, caring for his dogs, Cabela and Lakota, and spending time at the beach or Lake Anna with his fiancée, Jasmine, and their friends. Life had its challenges, but Dominic came up with ingenious ways to keep living life to the fullest. At family gatherings you could always count on the party to start when his boots were heard trooping in. Dominic was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ludwig Hartung, and his grandmother, Mary Buser. He is survived by his fiancée, Jasmine Lacefield, his parents, Paul and Maria, his grandmother, Beverly Hartung, his grandfather, Donald Buser, and by seven older siblings: Sarah and Joseph Stallings, Andrew and Liezl Hartung, Benjamin and Laura Hartung, Emily and Michael Beben, Christopher Hartung, Theresa and Daniel Cummings, Ruth Hartung, and his seven younger siblings: Virginia, Patrick, Peter, Monica, Mary, John Paul and Mark Hartung. Dominic was adored by his nieces and nephews and is survived by: Judith, Magnolia, Jacob, Lucia, Colton, Ethan, June, Sadie, Giselle, Moriah, Jameson and four soon-to-be-born. He is mourned by all who knew him including numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Pierce Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 18, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church. Interment is at Bright View Cemetery in Warrenton. Please see details below.
