Dennis Wayne Holloway

Dennis Wayne Holloway, 63, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. After a diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia, Dennis received a Bone Marrow Transplant and achieved remission in June 2023. Dennis beat cancer and was on his way to a healthy recovery until he was met with a rare complication. Dennis was a kind-hearted, selfless, loving husband, son, father, papa, father-in-law, brother, brother- in-law, uncle, and friend who will be dearly missed. Dennis was born June 20, 1960, in Worcester, MA. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Henry and Shirley Kay (Moore) Holloway. Dennis is survived by the love of his life and adoring wife, Lisa (Elizabeth) Holloway; his children, son Matthew James Holloway (Christine) of Richardsville, VA, and daughter Courtney Alyssa Holloway-Hyde (Greg) of Winchester, VA. He will be forever loved and remembered by his three granddaughters, Madison, Shelby, and Alexandra Holloway. His siblings: James Holloway, Bruce Holloway (Robin), Debra Allen, and Jake Holloway (Beth) will cherish the memories and good times shared. Dennis is also honored and remembered by several nieces, nephews, many dear friends, and colleagues. Dennis graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in 1978 and went on to achieve a respected career of 40+ years in Contracts Management at SAIC/ Leidos and STF. He was known for his attention to detail, incredible people skills, and thoughtful mentorship. In his younger years, he enjoyed cruising in his 67 Pontiac GTO. He loved music of all types and had a great singing voice. His passion though, was his family. He was a loyal and steady presence leading the family in faith and fellowship, good times, laughter…. Always laughter! Dennis was the perfect example of what a father and grandfather should be. He was exceedingly proud of his children and grandchildren, and he loved to spend time with his family more than anything. Family vacations at the beach offer memories that will be cherished by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren he leaves behind. After retirement in 2021, he made Beautiful Lake Gaston, NC, home. The home that was for weekends and pleasure became a respite in retirement. The lake and community brought him great peace, enjoyment, and relaxation. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023, from 11:30am to 12:30pm at the Manassas Church of Christ located at 8110 Signal Hill Rd., Manassas VA 20111, immediately followed by Service at 12:30. All are invited to join the family for fellowship and a meal in the dining hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Healing Hearts Respite Foundation may be made in remembrance of Dennis.
