Debra Clarice Dasher

Debra Clarice Dasher passed away peacefully on September 13, 2023, at Georgetown University Hospital after a long illness with her family at her side. Debra was born in Manassas on October 13, 1954, to Melvin (Pete) and Mary Slusher. Debra grew up in Manassas and graduated from Osbourn High School in 1973. While a student at Osbourn, Debra met the love of her life, Randy Dasher. They were married on September 29, 1973. On March 29, 1978, Debra gave birth to their twin sons, Jason, and Jeremy. Debra began her 39-year career at Continental Telephone, working her way up the promotion ladder as the company became CONTEL, then GTE, and finally, Verizon. She retired from Verizon as an administrative manager in 2012. Debra was a member of Manassas Baptist Church. She was known for her keen fashion sense, and her sense of humor. She loved to laugh, and no matter what one was experiencing, she would make that person laugh, too. Her strength and resolve to live was unparalleled as she battled major health issues during the last 10 years of her life. She did not worry about herself; rather, she focused her attention on you. Family was everything to her, and she was in her element as a grandmother. She was a friend to all who knew her. Debra was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Randy Dasher, and her two sons, Jason Dasher of Jeffersonton and Jeremy Dasher of Manassas. She is survived by five grandchildren, Ibrahim, Ali, Fatima, and Fern Dasher, all of Jeffersonton as well as Jarrid Dasher of Bealton. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Virginia Slusher of Manassas, and her sister, Stephanie Slusher-Vale of Manassas. Additionally, she is survived by two sisters-in-law, Lillian “Horsey” Smith of Manassas, Henrietta Cantrell of Wise, a brother-in-law, John Dasher of Manassas, and “like a granddaughter” great niece, Martina Lewis of Woodbridge, plus numerous other nieces, and nephews. Family and friends will gather for a Visitation on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, from 10:00-11:00 AM at Manassas Baptist Church, 8730 Sudley Rd., Manassas, VA 20110. Funeral Services will then be held at 11:00 AM at the church. A private family interment will be held at Fairfax Memorial Park in Fairfax, VA. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Pierce Funeral Home.
