CURTIS L. MLSNA, BANKER AND CITY TREASURER Curtis L. Mlsna, 68, a 35 year resident of Manassas passed away at his home on Main Street on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 after a long illness. Born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, he spent the first 7 years of his life in the Wisconsin farming countryside before moving to Ft. Belvoir, VA where his father became a civilian employee. He graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in Alexandria and attended Virginia Tech. After college he became associated with Citizens Bank and Trust in Alexandria where he became a Vice President in the Trust department. While in Alexandria, Mr. Mlsna was President of the Civitan Club, President of the Jaycees and was Treasurer of the Friendship Fire Company. He also was a member of the Northern Virginia Estate Planning Council, the Alexandria Mental Health Association and the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. In 1967 he was chosen by his Jaycee chapter to be named one of the Outstanding Young Men in Virginia. He moved to Manassas in 1971 and was still affiliated with Citizens Bank which had now become United Virginia. He continued with the Manassas branch of United Virginia, finally retiring from banking after 32 years. At this time, Mr. Mlsna became the Treasurer for the City of Manassas, a position he held for 18 years. He was also Secretary/Treasurer of the Bull Run Hunt for many years. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Maryann Jones Mlsna; two daughters, Christine Rowe (and husband Donnie) and Shearin Henegar (and husband Chuck); four grandchildren, Emily Rowe, Matthew Rowe, and Ashleigh Henegar, all of Manassas and Sarah Rowe Mayhew of Lynchburg. He is also survived by his mother, Helen Bjornstad Mlsna of Milford, Delaware, a sister Rachael Leonardo of Lewes, Delaware and three nieces. A memorial service will be held at Pierce-Price Funeral Home, 9609 Center St. Manassas on Saturday, September 2, at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Guy Hamilton of the Asbury United Methodist Church officiating.
