Charlotte Elizabeth Michael

Charlotte Elizabeth Michael, age 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2024. She was a resident of Manassas, Virginia, where she shared a home with her late husband, Charles E. Michael Jr., for the past 22 years. Charlotte was born on August 18, 1938, in Fauquier, Virginia, to the late Robert and Myrtle Mayhugh, and sister to the late Robert Lee Mayhugh, Sr. and his wife Betty. Charlotte is survived by her two children: son Charles E. Michael, III, and wife Darlene; son Chadd E. Michael and wife Christine. She had two grandchildren: Timothy and wife Whitney and Shannen and husband Mhammed. Charlotte’s legacy continues through her five great-grandchildren: Holsten, Levi, Nezha, Noura, and Axl. She also leaves behind her niece, Carol Ann Pauly, and her nephew, Robert Lee Mayhugh, Jr. Her nephew Thomas Allen Mayhugh preceded her in death. Growing up in Manassas, Charlotte attended Osburn High School, where she excelled academically and graduated with honors. It was in church where she met Charles, the love of her life, and they married in 1958, beginning a union that would last for 65 years until his passing in 2022. The couple settled into a small community in Fairfax, Virginia, where they raised their two sons. Charlotte was known for her exceptional gardening skills, transforming their property into a stunning landscape over 45 years. When she and Charles moved back to Manassas, she once again brought her green thumb to bear, creating yet another beautiful garden in their new home. Charlotte had a wide array of interests, including raising and showing Old English Mastiffs, painting, crocheting, needlepoint, collecting glassware, and baking beautiful cakes. She was a woman of many talents and passions that also included having several writings recorded in the Congressional Record. Charlotte was always ready to lend a hand to a neighbor in need and greeted everyone with a warm smile and a friendly word, and it’s for this that many will remember and miss her. A funeral service will be held at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA on Tuesday, August 27, at 10:00 am. A lunch reception will immediately follow in the funeral home’s reception room. Interment will be at 1:30 PM at Fairfax City Cemetery, 15067 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22030.
