Carolyn Wilson Ramsey

Carolyn Wilson Ramsey known as Carole, a vibrant and spirited soul, lived a life marked by resilience, love, and deep dedication to her friends, furry companions, and those she considered family. She was born May 12, 1947 in Washington, D.C. to Allen Cleatus Hefner and Dorothy Mae Lawler. Her journey came to a gentle close on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at INOVA Fairfax Hospital after some prolonged health struggles, leaving behind a legacy of spirit and compassion. Throughout her life, Carole exemplified strength and service, qualities that served her well in her diverse career. She dedicated her professional life to serving others, first in law enforcement as part of a K-9 unit, and later as a cardiac tech, after her law enforcement career was cut short after being hit by a drunk driver while on the job. Carole was a long-time member of the Manassas Church of the Brethren, where she was baptized as an adult. Even when her health challenges and back pain limited her physical presence, her spunk and tenacity led her to become the online chat moderator for her church’s livestream services each Sunday, ensuring she remained connected and in service to her church family from home, a job she took very seriously for the last 5 years of her life. Her life journey was shared for many years with her husband, John Ramsey, with whom she built a life filled with love and companionship until his passing. Though predeceased by her parents, husband, and a veritable pack of beloved pets who crossed the rainbow bridge before her, Carole's spirit lives on amongst her friends and family. She is survived by a daughter. Carole had an extraordinary love for animals. She loved her dogs, and her heart was full of care and concern for their well-being, both for those living in her house, and those in the community. Those who knew her will remember her for her tenacity, her vibrant spirit, and her unyielding love for her pets and community. Heartfelt gratitude and special appreciation is expressed to those who supported Carole, as well as her beloved Max, Minnie, and Mickey during her health struggles. As Carole often said, “I’m so grateful for all my angels.” In celebration of her life, a service will be held at the Manassas Church of the Brethren on September 22, 2026, at 11:00 am. A time of visiting and refreshments will be held prior to the service beginning at 10, with a burial at Quantico National Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manassas Church of the Brethren or to an animal charity of your choice, honoring Carole’s compassionate spirit and her dedication to the welfare of animals. Carole's life was a testament to the importance of and the power of love, resilience, and community. She will be remembered by all those who loved her. Rest well, Carole.
