Byron Hoke

BYRON EUGENE HOKE, age 82 of Nokesville, VA passed away Friday, May 18, 2012 in his home surrounded by many members of his family. Byron was born June 2, 1929 in Hayesville, Ohio to E. Lamar and Annie Hoke. He attended various schools throughout Ohio. Byron was stationed at Vint Hill in 1949 in the Army security agency. While there, he enjoyed playing for their baseball and basketball teams. He worked for many years as a route salesman in the local area for Birmingham Dairy, Sealtest Ice Cream and Frito Lay. Throughout his life he enjoyed many activities such as singing with the Bull Run Troubadours and the Nokesville United Methodist Church Choir, as well as bowling in various local leagues, refinishing and selling antique furniture at the local antique shop and traveling with his family. Byron is preceded in death by his parents, his step mother, Lucille Hoke, brother, Edward Hoke, Jr. and wife Edna, brother, Robert Hoke, Jr. and wife Polly and brother-in-law, James Miller. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty; one sister Alice Miller of Denton, Texas; one brother, Richard Hoke and wife Wanda of Powell, Ohio; three beautiful daughters, Debra Coyle and husband Richard of Lawrenceville, New Jersey, Donna Arrington of Manassas, Virginia and Dianne Cernoch and husband Kevin of Nokesville, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Valerie Coyle, Robyn May, Kelly Skinner, Earl Arrington, Jr., Heather Cernoch, Michelle Cernoch and Jessica Drew-Cernoch and two great grandchildren, Sean May and Scarlett Arrington. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Nokesville United Methodist Church, 12550 Aden Road, Nokesville with Rev. Julie Larch officiating. Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Nokesville, Virginia.
