Beverly Jean Payne

Beverly Jean Payne, affectionately known as "Putt" or "Bev Jean" to family and friends, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on November 25, 2022. She was born on January 2, 1958, to the late Alfred Jesse and Eugenia Ann Thorne. Beverly married the late Marvin Alexander Payne on August 28, 1976 and from this union they had five children. She was baptized and gave her life to the Lord at a young age and received her education in the Prince William County School Systems. The beloved Bev Jean, remembered for her outgoing personality and beautiful smile, was smart, funny, bossy, caring, loyal, and truly an incredibly generous lady. She was devoted to her family and friends, whether you needed a floor to lay on, a shoulder to lean on or just someone to talk to. We all knew her as a "tell it like it is" woman but she couldn't hide her big heart even if she tried. If you needed some cheering up, she was guaranteed to make you laugh and put a smile on your face. In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to music, doing puzzle books, playing cards, watching her favorite TV shows and her occasional visits to the casino with her friends. Most importantly she loved spending time with her family and close friends, as Karen likes to call her "Entertainer of the Year". She leaves to cherish in her memory, her five loving children, Karen Thorne (Daniel), Marvin "Darnell" Payne, Levi Payne (Takisha), Tony Payne and Robert Payne; 9 grandchildren, Teranee’ Thorne, Shaquel Thorne, Justin Guerin, Tyeshia Person, Levi Payne II, Marcquis Payne, Le'Marae Payne, Malik Hopper and Jasmiyah Huff; 8 great grandchildren, a Goddaughter/Niece Chrystal Rice and 7 God grandchildren. She is survived by her four sisters, Linda Smith, Betty Payne (Edward), Robin Thorne and Toni Lansdowne (Hampton); two brothers, Melvin Thorne (Arline) and Michael Thorne. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Beverly was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Tibbs, two brothers, Alfred Thorne Jr and Raymond "Jack" Thorne and one grandson Rashad Thompson.
