Bertila Orozco

Bertila Orozco passed away peacefully surrounded by her children, son-in-law, and daughter-in-law on February 5, 2021 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital after a terminal massive brainstem stoke. Bertila was born on May 13, 1947 in El Progreso, Guatemala and she was the youngest of 10 children. Bertila was born with a natural drive and determination to never give up and to keep pursing your dreams. She was the rock for her children who led by example in what she accomplished by coming to United States alone in her early 20s, with not much but a suitcase. After experiencing what life in US was like she decided to make it her permanent home. She started at the bottom and eventually became a homeowner, an American citizen and started her own cleaning business that she had for over thirty years. Our mother was a great woman and could never stay still. She worked until the day she suffered a stroke. If she wasn’t working you would find her completing a new home improvement project, spending time with friends, gardening, or cooking delicious food for her children. She would also spend time visiting her ten grandchildren and being present at every moment she was with them. No matter how hard life was she always loved to live and keep living by staying active. Her motto was always to trust in God, work hard, and to be patient with one another, because life was short. Bertila is survived by Robert and Fonda Salguero (son), Adrian and Sofia Rodriguez (daughter) and Lee D. Totten, Jr (son), her grandchildren: Casey, Kelly, Hailey Salguero; and Liana, Noemi, Gabriel, Vanessa, Xavier (deceased), Regina and Araceli Rodriguez, as well as many extended family and beloved friends and business clients. The requiem mass is open to all at Holy Trinity on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 10:30 am and her burial will be at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, VA.
