Barbara Jane Winston

Barbara Jane Winston, 60, of Manassas, Virginia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her two devoted sons and her loving family. She was born on July 16, 1965, at Prince William Hospital in Manassas, Virginia, and was the beloved daughter of the late Mildred Winston. Barbara accepted Christ at an early age and later rededicated her life to the Lord at Christian Life Church in Manassas, Virginia. Throughout every trial she faced, she demonstrated remarkable courage, perseverance, and grace. Even during her illness, Barbara remained steadfast in her faith, placing her trust in God and finding peace in His unfailing promises. Barbara's greatest calling in life was being a mother. She loved her sons deeply and devoted herself to raising them with strength, sacrifice, and unconditional love. Through life's many challenges, she remained a constant source of encouragement, support, and unwavering devotion. Her love for her family became the defining legacy of her life. Barbara had a joyful spirit and truly embraced life. She loved spending time with family and friends, and she believed that creating memories together was one of life's greatest blessings. Affectionately known to family and friends as "Molly," "Moose," and "Johnson," Barbara brought joy wherever she went. Whether she was planning a cookout, hosting a family gathering, or simply opening her home to visitors, Barbara made everyone feel welcome with her warmth, kindness, and generous heart. Her beautiful smile and infectious laugh left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a special love for children and was deeply committed to nurturing and caring for those entrusted to her. Barbara found happiness in life's simple pleasures, including relaxing at home and watching her favorite television shows, including Sanford and Son, Good Times, Columbo and In the Heat of the Night. One of her all-time favorite movies was Purple Rain, a film she never seemed too tired of watching. Her favorite song was “Achy Breaky Heart” by Billy Ray Cyrus. Barbara was a dedicated and hardworking woman who took great pride in serving others. Throughout her career, she worked for IBM, Lockheed Martin, A&J Catering, BAE Systems, Giant Food, Prince William County Schools, and several other organizations. She earned the respect and friendship of her coworkers through her dependability, compassion, and positive spirit. Barbara is survived by her father, Roy Arthur Trammell. She leaves to cherish her two beloved sons, Howard Samuel Corum, Jr. and Eric Lamont Corum, whom she loved unconditionally. She was also a proud and devoted grandmother to Nolan Corum and Camden Corum, who brought immeasurable joy and light into her life. Lovingly known as both "Boo Boo" and "Grandma," she treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and celebrated each of their milestones with pride and love. Her siblings, Diane Chance, Roberta Taylor, Aretha Trammell, La Quenta Smith Johnson, Telisha Trammell, Robert Winston, Roy Trammell, Jr. and Steve Rector; and many extended family members, and dear friends. Barbara attended Stonewall Jackson High School (now known as Unity Reed High School) in Manassas for her first three years before graduating from South Lakes High School, Reston, Virginia, in 1984. Barbara's life reflected love, compassion, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family. She gave freely of herself, consistently placing the needs of others before her own and making everyone around her feel welcomed and valued. Her greatest joy was her family, and the legacy of her love will continue through her children, grandchildren, relatives, and countless friends whose lives she touched. Although Barbara's earthly journey has come to an end, the love she shared, the memories she created, and the faith she lived will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished. While our hearts grieve her absence, we find comfort in knowing that she now rests peacefully in the loving presence of her Savior.
