Arlen Roger Garman

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Roger, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left us on August 29, 2026. Roger passed away peacefully at his home in Lovettsville, Virginia, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 10, 1939, in Washington D.C., Roger lived a life full of love, service, and dedication to those around him. Roger was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Lucy Katherine, whom he married in 1962. They shared an extraordinary journey of 63 years together until her passing in October 2024. Roger was predeceased by his dear wife Lucy, his younger brother Tim, and his sisters, Betty, Jo, and June. He is survived by his loving son, David, His Sisters, Carol, Becky (Bill), Rachel (Vee) and Ann (Al) and his cherished granddaughters, Abigail and Paige, who were the light of his life. A proud graduate of Osbourn High School in Manassas, Virginia, Roger went on to serve his country with honor in the U.S. Army from September 1963 to October 1965. After his military service, he embarked on a remarkable career at IBM in 1969, where he quickly rose through the ranks to become a front-line manager. Roger later contributed significantly to IBM's defense department, managing sonar submarine and shipboard systems. During his 25-year tenure, he earned numerous accolades for his exceptional management skills. Even after a brief retirement, Roger's unwavering work ethic led him to TCI, where he served as the security and human resource manager. Roger's hands were never idle, as he had a passion for fixing just about anything. His lively spirit and boundless energy were infectious, and he was always on the go, ready to lend a hand or share a hearty laugh. His great sense of humor and his talent for spinning amusing stories or jokes brought joy to all who knew him. Visitation hours will be Thursday September 3rd from 6-8pm and a celebration of Roger's life will be held on September 4, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. both at Pierce Funeral Home, located at 9609 Center St, Manassas, Virginia 20110. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the legacy of a man who gave so much to so many.
