Allen Lee Walker

Allen was a kind and caring man, who gave the best hugs and always had time for his family, no matter what was going on in his day. He would welcome you in, sit and listen, then tell you exactly what was on his mind. Whether it was a quick chat or an all-day meet up, you always felt loved after spending time with Allen. Allen was born on May 4, 1963, to Franklin Walker & Helen Marie Walker (Barbour) and became the family’s pillar as he grew into manhood. God called him home on February 20, 2026, at the age of 62. He was surrounded by his loving family. Growing up in Clifton, Virginia, Allen was a fun-loving child who enjoyed playing with his brothers and sisters who were inseparable. In 1981, Allen met, and fell in love with his soulmate Shirley, and were married in Kent Baptist Church in Landover, MD. They had lots of fun adventures. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, coaching football, going to parks, playing kickball, barbecuing, cruising, and spending quality time schooling everyone in spades and dominos. Allen and Shirley, through this beautiful union had one son and three daughters. Allen took pride in his family - always making time for his wife, children, and grandchildren who had him wrapped around their fingers and “could do no wrong” in his eyes. Allen loved football and rarely missed the opportunity to passionately cheer on the Redskins with his equally loyal children except one stray cowgirl fan, but he excepted her anyways. Kindness for others was a character trait of Allen’s that shone through in his daily life and was particularly evident in his ability to bring out laughter in all situations, big and small. He will be greatly missed by all of us who had the pleasure of knowing him, and the love he shared will continue to live on in our memories forever. As Allen often said, "You don’t have to go home, but you gotta get outta here.” And that is exactly what he did. He is home with the Lord, and those who went home before him - his father and mother, Franklin and Helen; his siblings Frank Jr., Sheila, Kenneth (Tookie), Raymond; his grandson Jeremiah; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who are all waiting for him at the pearly gates with open arms. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Walker; children: Gerard Bradley, Ashley (Keenan) Derricotte, Stephanie Oni, and Crystal (James) Walker Scott; his grandchildren: Keaira, Kemi, D’Anthony, Malachi, Camryn, Landon; his siblings: Jackie (Harry) White and Michael (Shannon) Walker; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and enduring friends.
