Alejandro Jose Abarca Pena

Alejandro Jose Abarca Pena, 10 year old boy, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. He was born in Fairfax, Virginia on November 12, 2013, grew up in Manassas and Front Royal, Virginia. He attended 4th grade at E. Wilson Morrison Elementary School. Alejandro was a wonderful child, as many children, he had a fascination for monster trucks early in life. He used to love going to monster trucks events, that changed as he grew a bit older. He loved books and used to visit Manassas Library quite often with his Mum. He loved and collected books of Coco the Dragon, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Wings of Fire and so many more. He also loved to dress up for Halloween with his Mum but as he grew older he began not to like it so much. His fascination for dinosaurs drew him to the wonderful prehistoric world, learning every name of all the dinosaurs, Spinosaurus being his favorite. Alejandro was a true fan and collector of Pokémon cards, with an impressive 2000+ collection, his devotion to Pokémon was and is something to be awarded. He then began to show interest in sports. He loved running, participated in many races, competing in older age categories around Manassas, often ending on the podium as the champion he always was. The stars, planets and blackholes took his fascination beyond planet earth. He would have told you everything about planets and stars. He was an exceptional soccer player, a sport that he loved and played every time he could. He loved playing as much as watching his favorite teams, Real Madrid, Inter de Milan and his beloved Manchester United… (His discussion with his uncle about what teams were the best… Real Madrid-Barcelona, Manchester United-Liverpool were endless and filled with a lot of passion). Of course, Alejandro always had the last word. He was a fearless competitor in and off the pitch and that determination would show in everything Alejandro did in life. He found a new passion in singing, joining the school chorus where he used to sing for local and fund-raising events. Alejandro’s warm heart, enthusiastic spirit and bright smile would lit up every room and touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Rather than dwelling with his battle against cancer, let us remember him for his vibrant spirit he embodied and the love he spread, keeping his memory alive in our hearts and actions. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 16 at 1:00 pm at All Saints Catholic Church, in 9300 Stonewall Rd., Manassas, VA 20110. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 16 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Pierce Funeral home in Manassas, VA.
