Yvonne Pizzi Sutton

YVONNE ANN PIZZI ROBERTS SUTTON, on Friday, December 26th, 2008, the Lord with love and in his infinite wisdom and mercy, called his child and servant, Yvonne Ann Pizzi Roberts Sutton home to be with him in eternal paradise. Yvonne was born on October 1st, 1935 at home at 430 Massachusetts Avenue in Washington, D.C. to Salvatore and Rosina Pizzi. The youngest of five children, Yvonne's siblings Jean Zucconi, Matthew Pizzi, Ralph Pizzi, and Gloria Fliakas were deeply loved by her. Her parents, sister Jean and brother Ralph all preceded her in death. She was baptized at Holy Rosary Church, had first communion, was confirmed and married at St. Mary's Church at 5th and G Street in Washington, D.C. Yvonne attended and graduated Saint Patrick's Academy. As a young woman she went to work at Catholic University as a secretary. She met her beloved husband, Everett Roberts, in 1956 as a young tail gunner from the Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C. on a blind date and married him on October 19th, 1957. They had five children, Jeanmarie Taylor, Ben Roberts II, Joanna Roberts, Deborah Lynn Baxter, and Lucindy Ann Owens. Their lives were filled with love and happiness until Everett lost his battle with cancer in May 1993. Her children's spouses, Robert Walter Taylor, Angela Roberts, Glenn Baxter, and John Owens were all devoted to her like her own children. Robert Lee Taylor, Nicole Roberts, Amanda Roberts, Mason Baxter, Justin Baxter, Jessica Owens, and Joseph Owens were all happy and loved to call her Meemaw, Grandma, or Nana. Robert Zachary Taylor, her only great grandchild, loved her more than words can say, his "Lil bitty Meemaw" was his everything. After the passing of Everett, Yvonne was again blessed and married her caring and loving husband Paul Sutton. Paul and his children were a big part of her family. Pat and Bruce Hoffer, Penney and Bill Simms, William and Debbie Sutton, Cheryl Sutton, and Lori and Bill Johnson were there for her as well. The grandchildren, Chris and Sarah Hart, Sara Hoffer, Stephen Simms, Michael Simms, Eric Sutton, Jennifer Sutton, Andrew Sutton, Lauren Sutton, Kelly and Don Connors, Selah Connors, Ashtyil Connors, Nenah Connors and little Hannah Johnson completed her family. Yvonne worked for Olan Mills, the Prince William County Health Department and finally for the Prince William County Fire Marshall's office, from which she retired. She was a member of Manassas Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. Post 7589, and she was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Like the angels she loved to collect and surrounded herself with, she is now our "Angel" in Heaven waiting to welcome us when our time comes. Internment will follow at Stafford Memorial Gardens, Stafford Virginia. Family and friends are invited to the Canaans Faith Church of God, 1470 Forbes St., Fredericksburg, VA after the interment at the cemetery.
