Micah Rollins Bushrod Sr.

Micah Rollins Bushrod, Sr., 67, loving son, husband, father, Pop Pop, brother, uncle, and cousin, departed this life on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Novant Health Prince William Medical Center in Manassas, VA. He was born in Warrenton, VA on January 26, 1952 to Mary (Washington) Bushrod and the late Clarence Bushrod, Sr. He was married to Linda Lee (Cockrill) Bushrod on November 13, 1972. From this union, two children were born - Micah Rollins Bushrod, Jr. and Whinoa Michelle Cupp. Micah was baptized at an early age. As a part of the Olive Branch Baptist Church family, Micah sang in the Men’s Chorus and the Senior Choir. Micah also enjoyed singing and traveling with the Northern Virginia Majestic Choir. Upon graduation from Stonewall Jackson High School, Micah began working for Fairfax County Public Schools. In April 2003, after 33 years of service, he retired as Coordinator II for Grounds Maintenance and Carpentry. He enjoyed going to the campground (just about every weekend), watching his Redskins (win or lose), and spending time with family including all of the kids that called him “Pops.” Micah was known for sharing vegetables from his garden. He enjoyed cooking at home and in the “kitchen” on July 4th at the Washington Family Reunion. After handing over the reins for cooking on the 4th to the next generation, he could be found just behind the “kitchen” still “supervising”. Micah, along with his wife Linda, was always happy to host and assist family and friends for special events or just family fun. Micah was a wonderful provider who loved and cared for family and friends alike. He had a marvelous sense of humor and was well known for quoting Uncle Robert. Micah is survived by his wife, Linda Lee (Cockrill) Bushrod of Haymarket, VA; son, Micah Rollins Bushrod, Jr. and his wife, Nancy Bushrod of Haymarket, VA; daughter, Whinoa Michelle Cupp and her husband, Jamie Cupp of Haymarket, VA; mother, Mary (Washington) Bushrod of Haymarket, VA; three grandsons - Andre Marquise Bushrod, Jeremiah Edgar Bushrod and Joshua Melvin Bushrod of Haymarket, VA; two brothers - Clarence Bushrod, Jr. and his wife, Christine Bushrod of Haymarket, VA and Arthur Bushrod of Manassas, VA; two sisters - Cheryl (Bushrod) Purdy and her, husband Jessie Purdy of Manassas, VA and Sandra Bushrod-Thompson and her husband, Roosevelt Thompson of Haymarket, VA. He is also survived by a special, loving nephew, Cody Vines, and the mother of his grandchildren, Latisha Spinner.
