Lucille Messina Moylan

Lucille Messina Moylan died peacefully on February 1, 2024, at the age of 91. She was married to her beloved husband, Maurice P. Moylan (known as Maury), who preceded her in death on November 3, 2015. Known to many as Nana, Nana Lou, and Lucia, she was born and raised in Mayfield, Pennsylvania and was a devout Catholic. Many who were fortunate to know her felt the love she gave so freely. She graduated from Mayfield High School in 1950 and worked as a seamstress in the garment industry along with her mother and sisters. Shortly after their marriage in 1955, she and Maury relocated to Northern Virginia. She lived in Alexandria, Virginia where she was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She selflessly dedicated herself to raising her children and, upon their maturity, worked in the banking industry for years. Upon her husband’s retirement in 1992, the couple relocated to Spotsylvania, VA. She became a parishioner of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Lady Auxiliary where she used her talents in sewing to make aprons, dolls, ornaments, and misc. items to sell at Church fundraisers, as well as making hundreds of rosaries to send to our troops overseas. A fan of sports, especially watching the Orioles and Nationals on TV, she found immense joy in attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events and was their biggest cheerleader. In addition, she enjoyed cooking, crafts, gardening, and singing. However, her greatest love and life's passion was her family and bringing them all together for her many gatherings at home. In addition to her husband, Lucille was also preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Messina, her brother, Angelo Messina (Nettie), and her sisters, Carmel Tolerico (Herbie), Marie Baggetta, (Jim) and Grace Parry (Bob). Survivors include her children Linda Moylan Blair (John), Cynthia Moylan Huston, Maurice E. Moylan (Margarita), Lisa Moylan Schmitt (Bob) and John J. Moylan (Dena); grandchildren, Kristy, Shaun, Kelly, Tyler, Christopher, Lexi, R.J., Maria, Bailey and Nickel; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Dean, Caden, Caia, Gianna and Ava; her sister, Isabelle Norella and her husband, Louis, of Carbondale, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Viewings shall be held at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, Virginia 20110 on February 14, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 P.M. and from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. A celebration mass shall be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 8213 Linton Hall Road, Gainesville, VA 20155) on February 15, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. Lucille is to be laid to rest at Quantico National Military Cemetery in Triangle, VA with her husband on February 16, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made in Lucille's name to Uptown Assited Living, 9103 Sudley Road, Manassas, Virginia 20110, where she met many wonderful people who loved, supported, and assisted her in the twilight of her life. For the love and support they showed Lucille, we consider them family and are forever grateful.
