Edgar Lee Wolfrey Sr.

Edgar Lee Wolfrey, Sr., age 89, of Manassas, Virginia and resided in Dade City, Florida for 20 years. Edgar then returned to Virginia for the past 5 ½ years, 4 years in Manassas and then 1 ½ years he lived in Culpeper with his daughter Carol Howell and son-in-law Chuck Howell where he passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023. Edgar was born in Orange County, Virginia on August 12, 1933, the son of the late Clarence and Rosa Wolfrey. He attended Brentsville High School where he played the tuba in the school marching band. Edgar left home at an early age and began working at local dairy farms until he started working at Merchant’s Firestone Tire Company in Manassas, Virginia as a salesman. He enjoyed staying busy selling and working. Then years later Edgar and his wife Charlotte opened their own business selling tires under the name of G&W Tire Company in Merrifield and Manassas, Virginia. He enjoyed long drives and eating out at his favorite buffets. He was a church bus driver for Emmanuel Baptist Church in Manassas. He loved sports, especially Notre Dame football. Most of all though, Edgar loved meeting and talking with people and friends. Edgar met the love of his life of 61 years Charlotte Mae Cornwell as young teenagers in which he is preceded in death by his wife. Survivors include his three children, Edgar Lee Wolfrey, Jr. (Brenda), Linda Wolfrey Spitler and Carol Wolfrey Howell (Chuck), two grandchildren Donnell Howell (Krystal) and Brad Howell, three great grandchildren Laci Zier-Howell, Brett Howell and Braden Howell, two step grandchildren Brandon Newcomer and Jaslyn Nicholson, nine siblings Marie Westmoreland (Tom), Helen Smith (Billy), Janice Grimes (Jerry), Jake Wolfrey (Kathy), Jack Wolfrey, Roger Wolfrey (Margie), Clarence “Jr.” Wolfrey (Gail), and Jerry Wolfrey (Connie). He is preceded in death by his brother Warren Wolfrey (Joan). Including lots of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m., March 28, 2023 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, Virginia where funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dallas Slemp officiating. Interment will follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens. Family welcomes all for a gathering at Pierce Funeral Reception Hall to commence the “Celebration Of Life” for Edgar. The “Big E”
