Barbara Pratt

On December 31, 2023, Barbara Dahl Pratt, of Bristow, Virginia, passed over to join in a joyous reunion with her late parents, husband, granddaughter and many other family members and friends that preceded her in death. Born on July 27, 1939, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to the late Susie Mae Peffer and Olaus Bert Dahl, she experienced a full life over the past 84 years. Barbara was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she spent countless hours volunteering in different capacities. She had a deep interest in family history and spent time researching family records and doing temple work. She also had a passion for working with youth and spent many years as a cub scout leader and youth camp leader as well as teaching nursing at a job corps in Washington DC. Barbara always wanted to become a nurse and accomplished this at age 40, while raising seven children as a single parent. This is an accomplishment she was immensely proud of and would use her RN certification and knowledge to lead CPR clinics, get involved in blood drives and participate in anything related to the medical field. Barbara will be laid to rest at Quantico National Cemetery alongside her late husband, Ernest Elmer Pratt. A private funeral service and burial is scheduled for January 9, 2024. Barbara leaves behind a large legacy. She is survived by her two siblings, Vanne and Randy (and spouses), her seven children, DeLyle Bloomquist (Laurie), Renel Jones (Creed), Virgil Bloomquist (Maria), Cherie Long (Tony), Jodi Hopkins (Mark), Denise Hatch (James), Shannan Lanterman (Owen), twenty-one grandchildren, three nephews, a large contingency of great grandchildren and many other family members and dear friends. In memory of Barbara's caring spirit, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local homeless shelter, animal shelter, or food bank. Contributions to these causes will honor her legacy of helping those in need. Barbara will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to her family and others whose lives she touched.
