Alice Louise Moore

Alice Louise Moore, age 92, of Manassas Park, VA, passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2025. Born in Bridgewater, MA on May 15,1932, Alice was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, known for her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for her family. Alice was the cherished mother of seven children: John C. Moore, deceased, Jeanne E. Lawson, William D. Moore (Laurie), James B. Moore, Alice L Golladay (Brian), Mary M. Moore, and Jay W. Moore (Glenda). Everyone who knew her called her Grammy and she was the proud grandmother of 20 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. She found great joy in spending time with her family, sharing stories, and offering a listening ear. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and an open door for anyone in need. A lifelong resident of Manassas Park, VA, Alice spent her early married life taking care of children and working as a bookkeeper in the Sears Catalog store in Manassas. She decided in her early forties to further her education and earned her degree as a Medical Technologist. She then started a second career working at Prince William Hospital until she retired at the age of 80. Alice’s kind heart and caring nature left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Alice was most passionate about time with her family as it grew exponentially. There was the annual vacation trip her family made to Alice’s childhood homes in Bridgewater and Wareham, MA, near Cape Cod. It was filled with laughter and fond childhood memories and a legacy that lives on today. Her best moments later in life were spent dutifully watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up and finding the joy in little things life brought her way. She also loved traveling when the opportunity came her way for an all-inclusive vacation with family. Her children all remember her tender heart and thoughtfulness and the love she brought to her family. Alice was predeceased by her mother, Edith L. Young Chenoweth; husband, John W. Moore; eldest son, John C. Moore; and granddaughter, Sonya Moore. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many extended family members who will miss her dearly. Alice’s family takes comfort in knowing that her legacy of love, compassion, and dedication will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Autism Speaks charity (autismspeaks.org) in Alice’s honor. Visitation will be Thursday evening, January 9th, from 7-9pm at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas, VA, followed by funeral services on Friday, January 10th, at 11am.
